Microstudio 2.303 - 2.314 Installation Guide

Ignore for 2.315 and higher

For Windows 95/98 and ME Only
Windows 2000 requires NO changes

Version 2.315 and higher - All changes to Windows required for this to run are done in the Microstudio Installation program. The instructions below only applies to 2.303 to 2.314.

READ THIS FIRST - Microstudio 2.303 to 2.314 requires your computer to have 64MB RAM installed. You can find out how much memory your system has by clicking the Start button, Settings command, Control Panel and click the System Icon. The System Properties dialog box appears. Click the General Tab to see the installed system RAM memory.

WARNING #1 - If you do not disable Auto Insert Notification, Windows 98 or ME will randomly terminate a CDR disc before it is 100% written. A partially written disc is useless and should be thrown away.

WARNING #2 - Installing Adaptec software automatically turns the Auto Insert Notification options ON without warning. Thus, if you install any Adaptec software, you must disable Auto Insert Notification again for Microstudio to work.

 

Disable Auto Insert Notification & Enable DMA
If you need help after you have made these changes, please register in the Forums and post to the Microstudio Open Forum.
1. Left click the Windows Start button (usually at the bottom left of the screen)

2. Left click Settings in the Start menu

 

3. Left click Control Panel

4. Double click the System Icon control panel system tab
 

5. Left click the Device Manager Tab

6. Double click the CD-ROM selection

7. Double click the first CD-ROM drive

8. Left click the Settings Tab hp cd writer properties general tab
9. Verify the state of these settings:
  1. Left click Disconnect ON
    (check present)
  2. Left click Sync data transfer ON
    (check present)
  3. Left click Auto insert notification OFF
    (check not present)
  4. Left click DMA ON
    (check present)
Left click the OK button to execute the changes
Do this for each installed CDROM/CDR drive that you will use with Microstudio 		hp cd writer properties settings tab
10. You must restart your computer now for Microstudio to run correctly. Click Yes in this dialog box. restart computer

Restart the computer to activate this change.
